After the judge met  behind closed doors  with attorneys for both Stern and Eroshevich, the court announced that it would grant a continuance in the case until May 13th. At that time, both Stern and Eroshevich are expected to enter pleas on charges that their actions contributed to Anna Nicole's death.

While the attorneys met with the judge in chambers, Stern and Eroshevich sat in the same area of the courtroom, one row behind each other. They did not acknowledge one another or speak to each other.

Stern, 40, was the "principal enabler," according to California Attorney General Jerry Brown, of the drug abuse that lead to Smith's death at 39 after an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in Hollywood, Florida. The medical examiner on the case subsequently said there were 11 prescription medications -- which prosecutors said included valium, vicodin, xanax, ambien and methadone -- found in the room at her time of death. Most of the prescriptions, prosecutors said, were in Stern's name . Eroshevich is accused of writing some of those prescriptions.

Both of the defendants were charged with a single count of felony conspiracy, among other offenses, including unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance and prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict.

Brown said of the defendants: "These people were caught up in being in a relationship with and being around the celebrity Anna Nicole Smith."

Meanwhile, a third defendant charged in the case --Dr. Sandeep Kapoor -- will be arraigned in a separate hearing, also scheduled for May 13th.
