An Ohio police chief has been sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars following the break-in at the house of Michelle Ross, the surrogate who carried twins for Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick.

Barry Carpenter was charged with breaking and entering at Ross' house. The house was empty at the time as Ross was in hiding waiting to give birth.

Carpenter's story is that he didn't steal anything from Ross' house and only entered when he saw that the basement door was open.

In November Carpenter was found guilty of receiving stolen goods and tampering with evidence. He was acquitted on the charge of burglary.

Carpenter was accused of passing on stolen files and photos to a paparazzo.

Another Ohio police chief faces trial in January for his alleged part in the raid.
