Samantha Brick says she is hated because she is beautiful, but that she’s been “mortified” by the attacks against her.
The British MailOnline columnist who wrote an article about the special treatment she says she received for just being “lovely” has seen global backlash against her claims.
Samantha, 41, is doing a series of interviews to defend her statements that she’s hated for her beauty, but told Ann Curry of the Today Show on Friday that she did not expect the thousands of vicious comments about her.
“I’m a sensitive individual, and I’ve been absolutely mortified by theses attacks,” she said on the morning show.
Curry questioned her intentions with the article, where Samantha recounted once being given free champagne by a pilot, asking, “Are you serious?” and the Brit defended her story.
“Obviously part of it is tongue-in-cheek and part of it has been massively misconstrued," Samantha said. “I’m not saying that I am attractive. I’m talking about the perception of someone who is considered to be attractive by other men and women and what that does to our society. I’ve drawn on my experiences over 41 years.”
