Robert Towne, one of Hollywood's most successful screenwriters, has decided to part with his Los Angeles estate. Towne, who won an Oscar for the iconic Chinatown, is asking $12,995,000 for the property.
The main house was designed for grand entertaining and there's a separate guest house with a total of seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms in 10,000 sq. ft. There are leaded glass French doors, beamed ceilings and hardwood floors giving the place a charming sophistication.
The three-quarter acre property also has a swimming pool, rose garden and a spice garden.
Towne, who also wrote Shampoo, and four Tom Cruise flicks -- Days of Thunder, The Firm, Mission: Impossible and Mission: Impossible II, is wrapping up Pompeii, an HBO miniseries.
Now in his late 70s, he's reportedly decided he wants to downsize.
