Following months of speculation about trouble in paradise, Emily Maynard and Jef Holm have split up.

Reality Steve first broke the news of the not-so-surprising break-up last weekend, revealing that the former Bachelorette lovebirds were in the process of trying to figure out how to announce it to the media.

Now a source close to the couple has confirmed to Wetpaint Entertainment that the made-for-TV engagement is off.

"It just happened,” said the insider. “They’re not together anymore. They’re probably going to announce it soon, they just need to figure out how to do it.”

As Breaking Celebrity News previously reported, since the 27-year-old from Utah popped the question to single mom, Emily, 26, in the season eight finale, the couple has been plagued with rumors of unrest, including allegations that she was texting inappropriate messages to a "professional football player" (who has been rumored to be Oakland Raiders back-up quarterback Matt Leinart) and that Jef hooked up with his ex-girlfriend.
