In Hollywood's close-knit community, people usually don't need six degrees of separation to link two famous folk - take Nick Cannon and Kim Kardashian, for example.

Speaking with his America's Got Talent co-star Howard Stern, on Tuesday, Nick admitted that he'd briefly dated the reality TV socialite in 2006, prior to her skyrocketing to the mainstream following the release of her now infamous sex tape with singer Brandi's brother, Ray-J.

Cannon, who's now happily married to Mariah Carey, said the tape was the issue that brought down the brief fling.

"We talked about this tape … and she told me there was no tape," Nick said. "If she might have been honest with me I might have tried to hold her down and be like 'That was before me,' because she is a great girl.

"She's actually one of the nicest people you'll ever meet," he told the King of All Media. "But the fact that she lied and told me that there was no tape?"
