Amy Admits Matt's Girlfriend Is A 'Constant Reminder Of A Marriage That Didn't Work'

On this week's episode of Little People, Big World, the Roloffs wrapped up pumpkin season!
Things heated up when Amy Roloff and Matt's girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, were forced to work together to set up their annual end of pumpkin season party for the farm's employees.
Matt suggested to Amy that she work together with Caryn to help plan the festivities. While Amy was not happy with that idea, she knew she had to put her personal feelings aside for the sake of the farm.
"Caryn has been a part of pumpkin season and has been managing it for a long time and does a great job," Amy forcefully admitted. "But knowing the relationship between Matt and Caryn, and to know that they are dating… to work beside Caryn is not healthy for me."
"Pumpkin season is important to the farm. I need to be there. I want to be there. I should be there," Amy added. "Obviously, Caryn does a tremendous amount of stuff. She has a lot more wealth of information of all the intricacies that are going on. So realizing that, I need to put aside you know whatever personal thoughts or feelings I might have, because this is business and I have to act accordingly. But it's going to be a much more daunting task then Matt realizes."
While Amy held her tongue and worked with Caryn, she revealed that it was very hard for her to be in the same room as her.
"It will always be difficult for me, working with Caryn or Matt, or living on the farm. We may look at how much longer are we able to keep this going and I do not have a clear picture of what my future looks like going ahead," Amy admitted. "When I'm in the same room as Caryn, I have a constant reminder of a marriage that didn't work out, and a loss."
"Having to interact with Caryn about this, I have to take a little moment to process this. It will always be difficult for me," she added. "It takes everything I have not to bring up that past baggage and apply what's happening now. I'm at that point where I need to think about what is good for me. And how I can try and be as successful as I can with the people that I surround myself with."
Matt acknowledged that the tension between the two would soon get old fast, and things would have to change.
"I realize that it's awkward and not easy for Amy to work with Caryn. But at the end of the day, it's business," Matt told the cameras. "Caryn is an integral part of running of the farm, and because Amy is co-owner of the whole farm she has to act professionally."
"I'm not sure Amy won't ever come around and accept you know Caryn's role in my life," Matt admitted. "Because of that, I don't know that I ever see being able to comfortably live on the same farm. It's just weird. At some point — I don't know that point yet — but I can feel this boiling point coming where I'm going to need to make a decision about moving off the farm. But is that really what I want to do? Will I miss the farm that much? I don't know how to deal with it."
"Pumpkin season is a ton, a ton of work. And at some point I'm not going to be able to physically continue with the farm. Ideally the boys would take a more active role in the farm and I would have the next few years to kind of go slow and easy."
Matt then — for the first time — told fans the details of how his relationship to Caryn unraveled and why retiring from his farm duties to go live in Arizona would be the best choice for their relationship.
