The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, gravely ill and surrounded by family members, has one request of her adoring fans, her nephew exclusively told Breaking Celebrity News.
“She’s requesting prayer, pray for her strength. That’s what we are doing,” Tim Franklin, 60, said in an exclusive interview.
Relatives aren’t giving up on the 76-year-old R&B legend, who has been battling cancer for years.
Family members have come to her side as the singer, who has won 18 Grammys over the course of her prolific career, continues her brave fight for life.
“She’s alert. She’s responsive. She laughs,” Tim told Breaking Celebrity News, insisting that she’s not about to give up.
“Aretha’s a strong woman of faith,” Tim continued. “Of course, we’re all praying for her during her time of illness. We are of the belief that she’ll pull through, and her spirits are that of such.”
The “Respect” singer is aware fans fear that she is on death’s door, her nephew insisted.
“They’re concerned. She knows that. She’s been aware of that. But we give her her space,” Tim assured.
Although she may be facing her final curtain, the star has kept herself distracted from dwelling on her fate.
“She’s talking to various family members, reading, watching TV,” Tim said.
“We’re praying with her. We’re calling. We’re checking on her. She’s nowhere close to that right now, that we’re aware of. And there are people there.
“We don’t see her as the queen. We’ve only seen her and referred to her and loved her as an aunt, just like you would yours."
“And we want to protect her as we would any aunt. We’re looking for a full recovery.”
Sadly, a source told Breaking Celebrity News the singer "may not last through the week" — and already said her goodbyes to friends.
Aretha's sister-in-law Cendia Franklin told Breaking Celebrity News this morning that the legend is "very ill," but surrounded by family in her native Detroit.
According to The National ENQUIRER, the star relapsed in her cancer battle last year.
