On this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice confronts her brother, Joe Gorga, for refusing to spend more time with their sick father.
Teresa confided in her daughter, Gia Giudice, when they took a trip to the nail salon for a quick mani pedi.
“The other day he was complaining about my brother not being around,” Teresa said of her father, Giacinto Gorga. “I mean I understand that he works a lot you know.”
“No but that excuse is so old, we live in the same town,” Gia, 17, replied.
“You’re right he can even stop over, have a glass wine and go home,” Teresa, 46, agreed.
“Yeah he would love that,” Gia said of her grandpa.
Teresa then decided she would confront her brother regarding the situation, but she worried the argument could get nasty.
“My brother used to be around more when my mom first passed away, but now he’s not coming around,” Teresa said in her confessional. “And I’m really nervous to say anything to him. Because when I brought this to my brother in the past, it got ugly.”
“My brother and I have been doing well for now, I just don’t want history to repeat itself,” she added. “I mean life is short, I just don’t want my brother to have any regrets.”
A few days later, Teresa hosted an Easter party with Joe and Melissa Gorga, all the children, and their father, Giacinto.
“Since I’ve lost my mom, holidays are more emotional… stressful,” Teresa admitted to the cameras. “So now I’m trying to make the holidays the best for my dad. I’m just trying to make him happy. And he needs that.”
As Teresa prepper for the dinner, Giacinto pleaded with Joe, 39, to come around more.
“You never calling me no more,” Giacinto told Joe.
“I didn’t call you this week” Joe replied with a chuckle. “I’m busy all week. Bad week this week.”
“Two weeks ago!” Giacinto replied. “Two weeks ago! Shame!”
Needless to say, Teresa was not happy with Joe’s response. but held it in.
“Really Joe, that’s your response,” Teresa told the cameras. “Daddy’s trying to tell you he wants to see you, you’re just going to laugh it off?”
“Before I went away, I spent a lot of time with my mom,” Teresa explained. “And now all I can think about is how when I came home, I wished I spent more time with my mom. So it’s frustrating that my brother doesn’t make an effort to see my dad, just on the holidays.”
Things got very emotional when everyone gathered at the dinner table, and Giacinto began thinking of his late wife and made a toast in her honor.
“Happy Easter to my wife,” Teresa and Joe’s dad said with tears in his eyes.
After seeing her dad get emotional, Teresa couldn’t help but finally address Joe.
“Joe are you going to be around more for this one? He wants you around more,” Teresa asked.
“Oh my god” Joe said throwing his hands up. “I mean what the f**k”
Joe’s wife Melissa, 39, was not happy the topic was brought up.
“Who brings up a super sensitive, going to cause a problem conversation on Easter Sunday?” Melissa asked the cameras. “Especially in front of my father-in-law who is super upset as it is. This is definitely not the time or the place, like your timing sucks.”
“It’s hard to be around,” Joe told his dad. “You know that the business is crazy. I work hardcore all day, every day, nonstop. Stress unbelievable stress.”
“I’m so over that with the work,” Teresa replied. “He’s like a freaking a broken record. That’s all I hear ‘I work. I work. I work.’”
As they cleaned the table, Joe addressed Teresa privately.
“Listen you got to cut that out,” Joe insisted. “You always bring that up in front of him, the ‘oh you work too much, you’re not around.’”
