Robert De Niro’s nasty divorce from his longtime wife just got much nastier. Breaking Celebrity News has learned the Hollywood veteran and Grace Hightower are now going face-to-face over custody of their young daughter.
The Post was first to report the news, stating that De Niro, 75, and Hightower, 63, are keeping their custody battle quiet, weeks after they filed for divorce following 20 years of marriage.
The two share 7-year-old Helen Grace, who they had via surrogate.
Records obtained by the publication show De Niro included an “Anonymous v. Anonymous” caption on the case to keep it low-key for the sake of their child.
The Godfather actor asked a judge for visitation with his daughter on December 13, 2018, the same day he filed for divorce.
He and Hightower are due in court next week to initiate their custody agreement.
Breaking Celebrity News readers know De Niro filed for divorce from Hightower back in 1999. At the time they began a custody battle over son Elliot. In 2004, however, the two reconciled and renewed their vows.
The actor is also a father to four other children from previous relationships.
