The actor was shooting his new movie Joker in New York City on Nov. 18.
Phoenix, 44, made for a very creepy clown-like character.
The red-suited menace was filmed running beneath an elevated subway train track in the Bronx.
His character gets hit by a taxi during the scene.
Phoenix was also seen filming out of makeup, portraying his Joker alter-ego, Arthur Fleck.
