Before beauty mogul and reality star Kylie Jenner moved on with Travis Scott, she was all about another rapper, Tyga. It was Jenner’s first public romance, and it began with online birthday shout-outs that led to people wondering, “are they or aren’t they?” Eventually, the two lovebirds confirmed they were a thing, and it was hard to spot one without the other as “Kyga” was officially born.

The duo’s bold fashion sense made them eye candy for photographers, and their lavish gifts and drama made their love story all the more interesting for Jenner’s many fans. Like so many young celebrity romances, this wasn’t one without its share of controversy and feuding, particularly with Tyga’s angry baby mama. Their romance eventually came to a screeching halt but not before a lot of photos were taken of the couple, as well as a few juicy KUWTK storylines.

Let us take a trip down memory lane to revisit young love in the age of Instagram.

In 2011, Tyga performed at Kendall Jenner's Sweet 16 birthday bash, driving the crowd of teens and pre-teens to throw their hands up in the air. Of course, big sisters Kim and Khloé were there to chaperone, as was younger sister, Kylie, who was just 14 at the time. No word on whether or not she was already flirting with the rapper back then.

Kendall, Chris Brown, Tyga, Kylie and others from their cool kids posse struck a pose on Kylie’s Instagram feed in a late night black and white selfie from Kylie’s 17^th birthday party. Fans noticed it was the first time Kylie showed a pic of herself with Tyga, although they had appeared together before that.

Tyga was 24 at the time and engaged to Blac Chyna, but that relationship ended that same month, which was interesting timing. Tyga and Chyna’s son, King Cairo, was two at the time.

Just in case anyone thought that Jenner had something to do with Tyga’s single status, the rapper posted a message (in all caps) on Twitter: “DON’T BELIEVE THE RUMOURS. BEEN FRIENDS WITH THE FAMILY FOREVER. WERE ALL JUST FRIENDS.”

Jenner and Tyga spent Halloween together, documenting the day with a photo of the two of them in their costumes. Jenner was wearing sexy lace lingerie with a black leather coat over it, and he was a werewolf. This time, momager Kris Jenner shut down those dating rumors. She told Ryan Seacrest that her youngest daughter was just hanging out “with a little group of kids who have been around forever.” She also emphasized that the youngest Jenner was single.

When the club Greystone Manor refused 17-year-old Jenner entry, Tyga happened to pull out of his appearance at the club. Of course, it was all just speculation that the two incidents were connected, and Kylie was already getting pressure from her family to distance herself, which may have been why she wasn’t at Tyga’s 25^th  birthday party. Despite rumors that Kylie’s family disapproved of her having a relationship with the older rapper, they still spent Thanksgiving together.

Because Grammy afterparties don’t necessarily have strict minimum age entry requirements, Jenner attended one afterparty with big sisters Kendall and Khloé and, of course, Tyga.

Around that same time, Drake dropped the track “6pm In New York” which had the lyrics “You need to act your age and not your girls age.” He was clearly referring to Tyga, who had called Drake “fake” in an interview with Vibe Magazine.

Adding more fuel to this raging fire, model and actor Amber Rose, who had married and split from Wiz Khalifa (and had also dated Kim Kardashian’s hubby, Kanye!) sat down with 105.1’s The Breakfast Club and straight-up dissed Tyga saying,  “He has a beautiful woman and a baby and left that for a 16-year old who just turned 17. Like, nah.”

Khloé didn’t let emotions get the best of her when she threw a few Tweets Rose’s way,“We get asked questions about people all the time and my sisters and I always take the high road and don’t answer. Truth is we don’t know these people. I don’t know Amber so why would I comment on her? I’m not going to comment on someone I don’t know. Please stop talking about us in interviews, mama. None of us talk about you.”

Mind you, all of this feuding was based merely on RUMORS that Jenner and Tyga were dating.

Tyga once again denied the dating rumors by going on The Breakfast Club less than a week after Rose’s appearance. The rapper said that he did not “leave my family to be with Kylie. That’s ridiculous.”

The next day, it was Kanye West’s turn to go on The Breakfast Club, and it appeared like he stumbled over his answer when questioned about Tyga and Jenner. It was later revealed that his original answer was edited, and that he had said, “I think they in love.”

Blac Chyna showed off her latest gifts  — a diamond Audemars Piguet watch and a hot pink convertible — on Instagram, but fans quickly noted  these were gifts given by Tyga from when they were still together. Kylie posted her own Instagram selfie, also wearing a diamond Audemars Piguet watch, within hours. The feud was officially on!

When North West celebrated her 2nd birthday at Disneyland in a private section of Frontierland, all the Jenners, Kardashians and Wests were on hand to celebrate. Tyga also showed up, bringing his baby along for the birthday celebrations.

After months of rumors swirling, Kylie and Tyga made it official and posed as a couple on the red carpet at Cannes with Kylie’s mother, Kris, and Kris’ boyfriend Corey Gamble.

In July, Khloé once again came to the defense of her younger sibling. In an interview with Complex, she stated that Jenner “is not a normal 17 year-old,” since “other 17 year olds typically wear braces and have slumber parties.“  By comparison, Jenner was a teenager who went on business meetings in private jets. “It’s a rare circumstance, so let’s treat this as a special case,” she concluded.

For Jenner’s 18^th birthday, Tyga bought his girlfriend a Ferrari 458 convertible worth $320,000. A few days later, he was whisked away to St. Barts on the Kardashian/ Jenner family vacation.

That same month, Tyga dropped “Stimulated,” which had the lyrics, “They say she young, I should’ve waited/ She’s a big girl, dog when she stimulated.” It didn’t take fans long to realize that the track was about Jenner, also because she was featured in the video for the song. Five days later, the two appeared side-by-side at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Tyga turned 26 on November 19, 2015, and rumors began swirling that Jenner had dumped him. A few days later, Jenner and Tyga took to Snapchat to shut down those rumors as they prepared to attend Justin Bieber’s AMA afterparty. Just to cement the fact that the two were still together, Jenner even sat down on the Ellen DeGeneres show and told the audience that the rumors were a flat-out lie.

Trouble brewed with reports from Us Weekly that Brazilian model Annalu Cardoso had been having sleepovers at Tyga’s house whenever Jenner was out of the country. Tyga met the buxom blonde on the set of one of his music videos, and she even appeared on his MTV2 show, Kingin’ with Tyga. This started a tiny Instagram war between the two women.

Meanwhile, Black Chyna had started dating Kylie’s brother, Rob Kardashian, in what could have been the latest shots fired in her ongoing feud with Jenner.

Just to let every buxom model know that Tyga was her man, Jenner started posting a series of PDA-heavy Snapchats of her and Tyga. Even so, the two walked the red carpet separately at the Met Gala, while at the same time wearing matching Balmain outfits. Fans speculated that they had broken up again.

Tyga rang in Kylie’s 19th birthday with a $200,000 Maybach, and the lovebirds took off to Turks and Caicos with Jenner’s BFFs Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid.

On December 12, 2016, Chyna and Jenner appeared to have made up when Jenner posted a photo on Snapchat of her cradling her newborn niece, Dream, Chyna’s daughter with Kylie’s brother, Rob. On December 14, Kylie became Chyna and Rob’s landlord, and then a few days later, Rob and Blac Chyna were no more, as she left him with their daughter.

Jenner and Tyga finished their year by appearing in a short film by Sasha Samsonova for W Magazine that featured them taking a shower together, meant as a “little surprise gift for the world.”

Jenner showed off a “T” tattoo on her ankle, obviously as an homage to her current beau, and Tyga showed his love by name-dropping Jenner in his new track “Feel Me” with Kanye West.  A few months later and Chyna took to social media to blast Tyga for failing to pay child support. The model also accused her baby daddy of cheating on Jenner with two women named “Terrell” and “Heather.” A new Instagram battle between Jenner and Chyna ensued.

People reported that Kyle and Tyga were taking a “little break," as Kylie quickly replaced the "T" with an "LA" tattoo. Soon, Jenner could be seen hanging out with her long-time friend, musician Travis Scott. The two of them were seen together at Coachella and an NBA playoff game, looking very close for people who were just friends.

Jenner then attended the annual Met Gala, breaking the rules by taking a selfie with a group of friends that included Travis Scott. Tyga was nowhere to be seen. Later, Jenner joined Scott in Miami for the Rolling Loud Festival and showed off a new butterfly tattoo that Travis Scott got around the same time.

That was pretty much it for Kyga with lots of commentary on why the breakup happened, including rumors that Jenner was still obsessed with her ex, as her new docu-series, The Life of Kylie, debuted on E!

On an episode of The Life of Kylie, the cosmetics queen reflected on her break-up with Tyga in April.  “There was absolutely not one thing wrong with me and T. He and I will always, always have a bond,” she said. “There was no crazy fight, we just decided … Well, I decided that I’m really young. I don’t want to look back in five years from now and feel like he took something from me when he’s really not that type of person.”

Even after having a baby with Travis Scott, things eventually came to an end with them, and just one month after the split, there were rumors that she was back with Tyga. Jenner quickly shut down those rumors.

Even with Tyga completely out of the picture, the feud between Kylie and Blac Chyna continued. In November of 2019, Jenner took her niece Dream on a helicopter ride for her third birthday. It ended up being the same helicopter that crashed, killing Kobe Bryant a few months later, and Chyna was livid slamming her choice. Let's see what happens next.
