The New York City Medical Examiner is currently “investigating” the death of Bethenny Frankel’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Breaking Celebrity News can exclusively report.

“The medical examiner’s office is investigating the death of a man believed to be Dennis Shields, found at the Trump Tower,” spokesperson Aja Worthy-Davis told Breaking Celebrity News. “The investigation is ongoing, and we will release cause and manner of death when completed.”

The NYPD told Breaking Celebrity News earlier today that Shields, 51, was found “unconscious and unresponsive” in his Trump Tower apartment around 9 am on August 10, and declared dead upon arrival.

Breaking Celebrity News can confirm that the Medical Examiner left Trump Tower around 3:15 pm, though a truck for the agency remained at the New York City building an hour later.

According to the New York Post, the businessman and Real Housewives of New York guest star overdosed on prescription pills.

He reportedly asked his assistant to administer Narcan, which treats opiate overdoses, when he realized his life was in danger. But it was too late.

Frankel, 47, and Shields began dating in 2016, but broke up often.

A source told Breaking Celebrity News friends are “shocked” by the death, and claimed he was never known to do drugs.
