Thomas Ravenel spent time behind bars for a cocaine bust before making it on TV, Breaking Celebrity News can exclusively reveal.

Ravenel, 54, was indicted for knowingly, intentionally and unlawfully possessing with intent to distribute cocaine in 2007. He was serving as South Carolina’s State Treasurer at the time.

The Southern Charm star went to rehab for two months during the case proceedings before pleading guilty.

He was sentenced to 10 months behind bars in 2008, and had to pay a $221,323.69 court fine. He was also given a three years supervised release after his prison stint.

Then, he was arrested for DUI while visiting East Hampton, N.Y.

He was arrested after he crossed over a solid white line, according to the police report obtained by Breaking Celebrity News.

“Defendant’s breath smelled strongly of an odor of an alcoholic beverage, his eyes were red and glassy, he was unsteady on his feet,” the reported read. “He faled sic several roadside sobriety tests.”
