The party was held to benefit Shine On Sierra Leone, a non-profit that aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in West African country Sierra Leone. Simmons, a promotional genius, exclusively shared with Breaking Celebrity News's Amy Scott his idea behind the swanky Manhattan bash: “We though if we got a whole bunch of beautiful girls, a whole lot of rich men would come, and they would raise us a whole lotta money for a really good cause.”
He was right: Among the gorgeous guest list included 90s supermodel Christy Turlington and Celebrity Apprentice star/model Selita Ebanks, who herself became a spokeswoman for the cause after visiting Sierra Leone three years ago and being overwhelmed by the country's poverty, infant mortality rate and war damage.
“She’s smart, she’s really good at making things happen and I really appreciate it,” Simmons told Breaking Celebrity News of Ebanks.
Simmons, a noted philanthropist, is also affiliated with the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, and has contributed to a slew of other charities for kids and animals. He is currently a UN Goodwill Ambassador, as well.
