Ex-CBS producer Robert "Joe" Halderman is not expected to attend Monday's News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York's Lincoln Center, where’s he up for an award, Breaking Celebrity News has learned.
"He's not doing any interviews and just wants to return to a quiet and productive life," his attorney Gerald Shargel told the Hollywood Reporter of Halderman, who’s nominated with three other producers for a 48 Hours story about American exchange student Amanda Knox, who was convicted on murder charges in Italy.
As Breaking Celebrity News previously reported, Halderman was released from prison in New York earlier this month after serving four months for his admitted $2 million extortion attempt targeted at late night funnyman David Letterman last fall.
According to prison records, Halderman left the facility two months early for good behavior while in custody. He pleaded guilty in March to charges of attempted grand larceny.
