Ryan Reynolds officially filed for divorce from Scarlett Johansson on Thursday in Los Angeles, Breaking Celebrity News has learned exclusively.

Reynolds listed the couple’s date of separation as December 14, 2010. There is no prenuptial agreement and Reynolds is not asking for spousal support.

The pair said in a joint statement December 14 that “after long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love, and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated.”

The divorce papers were filed late in the day and until Thursday it was not known which member of the couple was going to be the plaintiff.

The couple's split came as somewhat of a surprise, as the pair had recently marked their second wedding anniversary. They married on September 27, 2008 in a small ceremony in Reynolds’ native British Columbia.

Some have speculated the couple spent too much time apart. But Ryan and Scarlett vacationed in the Swiss Alps in August, although they did not appear affectionate toward each other in photos obtained by Breaking Celebrity News.
