Katie Holmes went to great lengths to keep her divorce plans hidden from Tom Cruise until she was ready to file, including using a disposable cell phone to talk to her lawyers.

According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, a close friend gave the throwaway phone to Katie so her Mission: Impossible husband wouldn't be made aware of her attorney conversations regarding the divorce.

As Breaking Celebrity News previously reported, Tom was shocked by Katie's June 29 divorce announcement — which is exactly what Katie wanted.

The LA Times reports that Katie didn't want Tom or his staff to know the divorce was coming, and by the time she filed, she had already hired three law firms in three different states.

On Monday the couple reached a divorce settlement and Katie was awarded primary custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, which Breaking Celebrity News was first to exclusively report would be the outcome.
