Home appliance brand KitchenAid have had to issue several groveling apologies after posting a crude joke about President Barack Obama’s deceased grandmother on their Twitter page, Breaking Celebrity News is reporting.

The company, famed for their brightly colored stand food mixers, took to their corporate account during last night’s presidential debate to tweet: “Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! 'She died 3 days b4 he became president #nbcpolitics.”

The badly timed and unfunny put down was a reference to Obama’s beloved grandmother, Madelyn Dunham who passed away at 86 - just before he was elected and thus wasn’t able to see her grandson’s historical moment.

Realizing their pun was in bad taste, KitchenAid deleted the tweet but that didn’t stop some of their followers from sharing the post.

KitchenAid then immediately posted an apology: “Deepest apologies for an irresponsible tweet that is in no way a representation of the brand's opinion. #nbcpolitics.”
