Jessica Simpson's dad, Joe, who is currently embroiled in a gay sex scandal, has formally pleaded no contest to his DUI stemming from his arrest last summer, Breaking Celebrity News is exclusively reporting.

Papa Simpson's famed attorney, Shawn Holley went into court ahead of a scheduled court appearance on Monday, and formally pleaded no contest to the DUI charge.

As part of the plea, Simpson will be required to attend a three month alcohol education class, pay a hefty fine, and will remain on informal probation for the next three years.

Simpson wasn't in the Van Nuys courtroom for the proceedings.

As previously reported, Simpson was arrested on August 4, after being pulled over by cops on Ventura Blvd. He was taken to the Valley Jail in Van Nuys and was released the following morning at 9:40 a.m.  His bail was $5,000.
