Are publicists for Britney Spears and Jason Trawick already in damage control mode over their clients’ upcoming break-up?

Certainly seems that way -- as in the midst of reports that it's all but over for Britney, 31, and Jason, 41, and it's just a case of when they decide to officially pull the trigger, a gushing new interview has popped in which the I Wanna Go singer heaps praise on her fiance.

“It amazes me that no matter what situation I'm in, Jason has the ability to always make me feel protected and loved,” Spears tells People magazine.

However, as Breaking Celebrity News previously reported, The X Factor judge and her conservator boyfriend are spending the Holidays deciding if they are going to officially call it quits in the new year on their three-year plus relationship.

“It’s a make or break holiday for Britney and Jason,” a source close to the Toxic singer told Breaking Celebrity News.

“Things have been getting worse and worse with their relationship for several months now, and they know they have to figure things out once and for all because they can’t keep going on like this.”

However, as Jason is a co-conservator over Britney’s estate and contractually has to be on set with her at all times during taping of The X Factor, the decision to stay together or not
