NFL linebacker Jovan Belcher argued with his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins about their baby’s paternity before his horrific act of violence, shooting her dead and then committing suicide.

That’s what Belcher’s mother told investigators, according a new report. Perkins and Belcher had a three-month old daughter, Zoey, but Belcher questioned if he was the father and that could solve the mystery of what triggered his murderous rage, Breaking Celebrity News is reporting.

Cheryl Shepherd, Belcher’s mother, was in his home when he shot Perkins dead on December 1 before driving to the Kansas City Chiefs’ facilities and committing suicide in front of his coach.

“The mother believed that there was an issue over whether Belcher was the father,” a source told the New York Post, which broke the story.
