Meghan Markle remains in talks for a role in Netflix series The Gentlemen despite rumors of a backlash that sparked a U-turn from bosses, according to new claims Breaking Celebrity News can reveal

The streaming giant is reportedly keen to be at the centre of the Duchess's acting comeback, but no formal agreement has taken place.

Netflix's stance comes after it was reported the streamer had been put off acquiring Markle's services for the third series after fans vented their fury at her link to the Guy Ritchie drama.

A source told The Sun: "Her return to acting is expected to draw a large audience of both her supporters and critics, and is likely to make a lot of money. It will be seen as a major coup for whoever signs her."

The ex-Suits star was lining up a shock acting comeback amid confirmation herald and husband, Prince Harry, was moving back to the U.K.

Markle is believed to be in talks to play a ­temptress in Netflix’s action-comedy series about an aristocratic family who turn to crime. The show features Ritchie hallmarks such as underworld thugs, drugs, s--, murders and very strong language.

It is expected that any deal to sign her for the show would be worth over $1million.

Harry and Markle’s planned return to Britain has triggered fury over the prospect of taxpayers facing a security bill critics fear could reach millions of pounds annually if the Sussex family receives extensive protection.

The family is expected to relocate later this month to a private, non-royal residence believed to be outside London – immediately renewing scrutiny over who will provide their security and ultimately pay for it.

Concern is now focusing on the potential cost to taxpayers if Harry and his family are granted extensive police protection.

Critics of such an arrangement argue that providing round-the-clock protection could cost around $7million annually and would be difficult to justify for members of the Royal Family who voluntarily stepped down as working royals.

The controversy intensified after the Home Office responded to reports about the Sussexes' impending return by emphasizing the strength of Britain's system for protecting prominent individuals.

The UK's Home Office said: "The UK Government's protective security system is rigorous and proportionate."

It added: "It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals' security."

The statement does not confirm Harry, Markle or their children will receive taxpayer-funded police protection, nor does it disclose what arrangements could be implemented following their reported relocation.

But a well-placed UK government source claimed to Radar: "There will be genuine fury if Harry and Meghan return to Britain as private individuals and the public suddenly discovers it is expected to pick up a security bill potentially running into millions of pounds every year.

"People will understandably ask why taxpayers should be responsible for financing protection on that scale when the couple voluntarily walked away from their roles as working royals.

"The figure being discussed is potentially as high as $7million annually once you consider the extraordinary resources that could be involved in protecting Harry, Meghan and their children.

"That is not a confirmed cost, but even the possibility of taxpayers facing that kind of bill is inevitably going to provoke an enormous backlash."
